Children and parents

Child neuropsychological assessment and individual support sessions.

I work directly with children and consult with parents. Together, we explore a child’s strengths and difficulties and identify priorities for further support.

Neuropsychological assessment for children

I assess attention, memory, thinking, language, visual-spatial and motor skills, planning and self-regulation. Tasks are selected according to the child's age and the family's concerns.

We begin by discussing the child's development and specific difficulties with parents. I then work with the child, observing how they understand instructions, complete tasks, respond to challenges and use support. I take tiredness and the need for breaks into account.

After the assessment, I explain the findings to parents: what the child already does well, where support is needed and which goals could guide further work. Neuropsychological assessment does not replace medical diagnosis; we discuss the need for other specialists separately.

Individual neuropsychological support sessions

I provide individual neuropsychological sessions to support the development of skills that a child finds difficult. We define their goals from the assessment findings and difficulties in daily life: learning, play, following instructions and interacting with others.

Sessions use manageable play, movement and cognitive tasks. We gradually increase their complexity, guided by the child's current skills, pace and stamina. The aim is to develop skills the child can use outside the sessions.

With parents, we discuss changes they notice at home and in learning. We agree individually on session frequency, goals and activities to try at home. There is no fixed programme that is the same for every child.

Parent consultations

This is a separate service. We discuss specific situations, the child's behaviour, demands on the family and the resources available. We consider changes to the environment and ways of offering support, while also taking parental exhaustion into account.

A parent consultation based on descriptions of behaviour does not replace a direct neuropsychological assessment of the child. When you enquire, we will consider whether a parent consultation is sufficient or whether assessment and sessions with the child are needed.

Format and preparation

Before booking, we agree on the child's age, your concerns, the possible assessment or session format, the meeting location, duration and fee. Online parent consultations are available separately; the possibility of remote work with a child is discussed individually.

For an initial enquiry, your name and contact details are enough. When we arrange the appointment, tell me the child's age and one or two examples of the difficulties. You do not need to send personal documents or videos of your child through the enquiry form.
